Found the upper motor mount was all torn up. I replaced it with one I was given with the last SL2 I owned and never got rid of! Also replaced the rear struts with basic Monroe units, nothing fancy. The right rear strut had literally rusted into two pieces and came apart as soon as I unbolted it from the car. Well there’s your problem right there! And I indulged in a short shifter from VMS150 on Sixthsphere.com, which makes my Saturn shift almost as nicely as my Miata. It’s that good.
Scored a set of studded Hakka 10s off Craigslist, swapped them onto the stock steelies, and we’re set for the winter. The gas gauge has a mind of its own under 1/2 a tank, but I can use the trip odometer and wait to check the sender unit until after winter.
