Huge update coming

I haven’t updated in a while, but the project rolls on. It turns out that a GTX engine that I had lined up fell through. That would have been a huge problem if I hadn’t known someone who wanted to get rid of a Miata 1.8 BP. It had been sitting for at least a year so it was really only good for a rebuildable core, that pushed me to go ahead and purchase Wiseco 8.8:1 forged pistons and Eagle forged rods. I’m sure that I won’t be going over 400hp in the future, which should be accomplished with 25 or so lbs of boost, but I still decided to spend the extra money on H beam rods rather than I beam. Those are connected to a crank that has had the counterweights knife edged, and then the whole assembly from the front crank pulley to the SPEC lightweight billet flywheel/Stage 2+ clutch/pressure plate.

A custom ETD manifold is going to hang an ATP customized GT2871R turbo. The turbo is an E cover intake 2.5 inch in/2 inch out, and a .63AR T3 5 bolt exhaust cover. That’s going to be coupled with a custom 3in downpipe and exhaust system. A Turbosmart 38mm wastegate helps regulate the exhaust flow and a Boost Tee boost controller is gonna keep the wastegate seeing happy goodness.

The whole sheebang is gonna be powered by a Haltech Platinum Sport 1000 stand alone EMS, and monitered by a mixture of Sunpro and AEM gauges.

Keeping things cool is a 2 row Civic half rad from Mishimoto, as well as a Mishimoto Z line front mount intercooler.

As far as suspending the car goes, I haven’t purchased my parts yet, but the plan is for some custom KSport coilovers built to my own specifications, and 949racing 6UL wheels in a 15x8 size, wrapped in Hankook Ventus RS2 tires. Drilled and slotted stock rotors will round out the rolling package as well as Hawk HP+ pads front and rear.

That’s all so far, I’ll do another update in about 4 weeks when the motor is in and running!
