+1 for this neat ride!! I got to be in it at the 2006 Chalenge. Well executed...
1980 Triumph Spitfire with Mazda 12A rotary, RX7 limited slip diff, Miata brakes, Yamaha R1 motorcycle shocks. It was a $2006 Challenge car. The 12A is stock except for a Racing Beat 2 piece intake with a 48mm Dellorto. I had to make a spacer plate to raise the carb off the engine, it was getting way too hot. The transmission is a 1979 RX7 unit, the clutch and flywheel are stock RX7 pieces as well. I built the roll bar myself, along with the custom rear control arms and hybrid Triumph/Miata fronts. The suspension uprights and brakes are from a 1.6 Miata, the brake and clutch master cylinders are 1st gen RX7 pieces. I recently narrowed and repositioned the steering rack to correct the bump steer and Ackerman problems from the original suspension build. I also added a 16” Ultrashield Spec Miata seat and a removeable steering wheel, along with extra roll bar bracing for TT and hillclimb use. The exhaust is a self built header from a Racing Beat kit which feeds into a home built 2 1/2” exhaust and a Flowmaster muffler raided from the Dumpster behind the dealership where I work. ignorant and I did the aluminum interior work, all that was made from a 18 wheeler aluminum panel I bought at the local metal recyclers.
