The car started overheating badly, and led to coolant in the oil. Ugh. I pulled the head and replaced the head gasket with a metal Cometic version. No damage to the head or block, but I replaced all temp switches and sensors and some other odds and ends while it was apart. The drain port on the radiator was clogged with accumulated sludge and debris, probably the cause of the overheating. Everything has been flushed and it should hit the road this weekend.
