1968 Mercury Cougar

13

Been doing trackdays for 7 years with the silver bullet, 331, TKO, Maier road race suspension, lexan, firesystem, big Wilwoods all 4 corners, 9 inch, cage, made the flares myself, 17 inch Vintage Wheel Workds wheels, way too many goodies to list here…what can I say, I’m old school. Put up some pretty decent times at the local 3 here in Northern Ca.

Thanks all, yeah that was a crazy day. I never realized it was flyin that high, could only feel the rear of the car land and just like it was a small speed bump. I was out there with the NASA guys so I was pushing pretty hard. Felt good to go 10/10 most of the day and keep it under control and lay down some good laps.

Okay, after this my wife is definitely going to kill me. I'm in NorCal also running the local three. I already track a 200sx se-r, a Contour, and Audi's. But I have a '67 Cougar in the garage that my brother has spent years trying to get me to build for drag racing. Man is he going to be bummed out when he sees this, because he will know what is in the future for that tin cat.

Very cool! There aren't many of us out there running the "cats", so be prepared to join the "bastard club"...My Cougar is going to be down for a bit, started a major refit but have to many irons in the fire. Hope to get her up and running next year sometime...

Pretty decent series going on in either CarCraft or Popular Hot Rodding where they're putting a pretty serious road racing suspension/brakes in a '67 Cougar. Mods due to the slightly longer wheelbase of the Cougar compared to the Stang.

BTW - love the shots and the big Cat on the hunt...

Thanks all! It's Popular Hot Rodding that is building the Cougar. "Max Effort" it's called. The shop is Cortex Racing out of Infineon, I actually took Chris Campbell (PHR tech editor and owner of the Cougar in the mag) a ride in my Cougar. That Cougar is going to be way next level, more like a street legal AIX car. They do great work at Cortex and at Kertz (I think that's the name) Fabrication. We'll see how they stack up against each other down the road...should be fun! Even though it'll probably kill mine..LOL.
