1987 Volkswagen Scirocco

In October 2010 my ‘88 Scirocco was totaled, the only good news from that was it was in such a way where most of the upgraded parts could be stripped and reused. I got a hot tip on this ‘87 that had been sitting in a field behind a NJ repair shop for the better part of 12 years. Less than a month after the wreck I bought it for challenge money. Thankfully this one had no sunroof to leak all over me and bang my head on. Parts lifted off DOA donor: -Bilstein Sports w/ H&R race springs -Neuspeed strut bar -Corrado seats (better bolstering) -Lots of extra parts “just in case” -Pretty Konig gold wheels Add “new” to this car: -Used Autotech header to replace horribly bad idea of running a downpipe without a flexpipe somebody else had. -PBR Ultimate Pads and new rotors and bearings. A dozen years of pitting on rotors boarders on being called impressive looking. -Traded up the pretty Konigs for more functional TR Motorsport wheels -Had to redo entire cooling system, including head gasket. Bad coolant left to rot in an engine for 12 years, would be called impressive if the results weren’t so tragic. -Deleted AC and power steering. Added the proper manual rack and running ABA alternator and belt setup.
