Sunday was the final championship event for the 2013 Porterfield RallyCross Championship at Glen Helen Raceway in Southern California. After a grueling season with 6 previous events, including two double-championship weekends, I had two wins and a 29 point lead. It looked safe, but we all know how unpredictable conditions can be in the dirt… After a ridiculously muddy and wet Saturday practice (the course even flooded and was shut down early), I thought my victory was assured. I do very very well in the mud! However, conditions dried up quite a bit for Sunday and I had to fight hard to keep pace. I ended up 10 seconds behind the leaders (who nearly shared first place, with only 0.004 seconds (!!) between first and second), but that scored me enough points to win the season championship in the Stock AWD class! Not bad for a 3500 lb, 100 whp wagon :-)
