Found the weakest link. Blew the headgasket on the number 2 cylinder into the water jacket today at 11AM. finished the job by 4pm. The gasket was a NOS aftermarket piece from the early 70’s that I didn’t feel good about installing last year. The new gasket is a modern production improved unit that I have much more faith in.
On a positive note I replaced the soft valve springs with some considerably stiffer ones.
