Jan 10, 2015 update on fujioko's 1994 Mazda MX-5

I have done more mods to this car then meets the eye. The engine is a 1300cc Mazda B series from a Ford Festiva. The head has been shaved .020 and the ports were cleaned up ever so slightly. The transmission was modified with a RX-7 fifth gear to lower RPM in cruise. The ignition uses the Miata CAS and a custom circuit-board to ignite the Saturn S series coilpacks. Engine management is handled by a Megasquirt II with a LC1 wideband. The engine is tuned for maximum power on acceleration and economy in cruise. A small block Chevy thermostat was modified to fit the engine and keeps temps closer to the hot side. (these engines run cold) The cam timing is adjustable, however the sweet spot is still a mystery.
