Finally got a day off and used it to paint the engine bay. I went with Blaze Red from the S5 RX-7. I got past through the paint gun learning curve by painting my Cadavalier’s bumper and quarter panel, so this actually turned out very well. It was difficult getting every nook and cranny with a full-size gun (needed 20-24oz per coat). Doing flat panels will be a piece of cake.
The frame rails has some surface rust on them so I hit them with a wire wheel on a grinder and primed them with Eastwood Rust Encapsulator.
I am using the PPG Shopline system. It’s a polyurethane (no acrylic BS) and I couldn’t justify spending nearly 2x as much for the Concept line.
