We recently took our off-road Miata to a Central Florida Region SCCA rallycross event. While the car was built as a low-cost Gambler 500 contender, we figured a rallycross would be nearly the same kind of torture for the Miata.

Not knowing what to expect, we were pleasantly surprised that the car passed tech, was incredibly fun to drive and held up remarkably well with no damage, despite an ever-worsening course with huge ruts, bumps and similar challenges.
With little or no prep and a stock drivetrain, after 14 runs (with two drivers) we had only huge smiles on our faces as some of the competition in the rear-wheel-drive modified class was purpose-built for these types of events.
