For every entry into our Tire Rack Ultimate Track Car Challenge Presented by Grassroots Motorsports–our annual search for the fastest track car on four wheels–we ask a few simple questions to learn more about the car: how much horsepower it has, how much it weighs, what sort of modifications have been done and what makes the car entered the Ultimate Track Car?
Either on accident or on purpose, driver Michael Young left the entry form almost entirely blank. Here’s what little we do know: Young will be driving a 2024 C8 Corvette Z06 equipped with the Z07 package.
Luckily, we can make some inferences based on what we've been given.
The Z07 package recalibrates the Corvette's Magnetic Ride Control suspension and adds Michelin Sport Cup 2 R tires, Brembo carbon ceramic brakes as well as a front splitter and rear wing made of carbon fiber.
Assuming the car is unmodified from stock, the Z06 is rated at 670 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque.
While there is still a lot we don’t know about this entry, the biggest unknown is how competitive this C8 will be against a field of some of the fastest track cars around.
We’ll soon get that answer, however, during our Ultimate Track Car Challenge, which takes place alongside the Tire Rack SCCA Time Trials Nationals Powered by Hagerty, October 26-27 at Kentucky’s NCM Motorsport Park.
