The Hyundai Elantra and Sonata will look a bit different for 2024. The Elantra will feature a “new shark-nose front design creating a strong, wide appearance.” The Sonata has a “new more aggressive design with a long hood and wide front-end layout that integrates a seamless horizon lamp.”

Furthermore, Hyundai said they improved the aerodynamics of the Sonata. You can also now get the new HTRAC All-Wheel-Drive option for the Sonata’s 2.5-liter engine. (Unfortunately, AWD is not offered for the 2.5-liter turbo that the N Line uses.)

Hyundai made several other changes to enhance the user experience of both the Sonata and Elantra, and improve the ride and handling of the Hyundai Elantra N.

I get why Hyundai won't/can't fit all-wheel-drive to the Sonata N Line's turbo 2.5, but I can dream, right?

Yes, I just confirmed that with Hyundai: No AWD for the N Line.

More details on the HTRAC AWD system:

Improved Control and Driver Experience with HTRAC AWD
•    The Sonata’s all-wheel drive system is front-wheel drive based, which is a first for a Hyundai sedan in the U.S.
•    HTRAC uses an electro-hydraulic system to control AWD coupling for a quicker response and more precise control
•    Snow drive mode enhances driver security and all-weather confidence
•    Normal, Smart, Sport, and Custom drive modes adjust settings for engine, transmission, AWD (when equipped) and steering mapping to provide the desired driving experience

Good question. Here's the answer.

2024 Elantra N Ride and Handling Enhancements
•    Engine mount membrane reinforced to improve after shake and agility
•    G bushing reinforcement for yaw response and steering precision
•    Rear Suspension/ABS insulator change from rubber to urethane on rear support for improved damping and yaw response
•    ECS hardware improved for enhancement of body control
•    ECS software optimized for hardware change
•    Steering gear box yoke spec changed for improved steering connection and precision
•    Steering universal joint friction reduction for improved steering precision
•    Motor Driven Power Steering software optimized for chassis and steering changes
•    Tire pressure increase - Front 36 / rear 34 psi (current 35/33) to optimize front axle load increase while maintaining front to rear ride and handling balance

I think the redesign looks better but it's hard to tell. Neither one is particularly attractive. HOWEVER, it's awesome to see Hyundai iterate on platform improvements.

These detailed Sonata images lifted off the Hyundai FB page:

The front is reminiscent of the Lucid Air which I have always found to be reminiscent of Star Trek La Forge.

Any word on Elantra N colors for 2024? I've been hoping that they'll add red, orange, yellow, or green! I'm not a fan of blue and that's the only non-grayscale in the current lineup.

Lifted this straight from the release:

  • New color choices:
    • Ecotronic Gray (New, available on SE, SEL, SEL Convenience, Limited, N-Line, HEV, N)
    • Ultimate Red (New, available on SE, SEL, SEL Convenience, Limited, N-Line, HEV, N, New color added for N model)
    • Exotic Green (New, available on N-Line only)
    • Amazon Gray (New, available on SE, SEL, SEL Convenience, Limited, N-Line, HEV)

So, to answer your question, it looks like Hyundai is adding "Ultimate Red" to the already available Phantom Black, Cyber Gray, Performance Blue, White and Intense Blue.

That's awesome! I'll be checking the website daily to see when the configuration tool for 2024 goes live. I think a manual red N should be my next car.
