The WRX STi we test drove last year was a bunch of fun, IMO, despite the lack of speed on track. If Subaru's "enthusiast-focused" treatment includes enhancements to make it faster, it could be a winner.

Subaru announced today that it plans to unveil the “sharper and more enthusiast-focused" WRX TR at the upcoming Subiefest Florida–slated for October 7 at Daytona International Speedway–with the help of Subaru drivers Travis Pastrana and Bucky Lasek.
GRM will also be in attendance, so stay tuned for updates from Subiefest Florida.
While we're keeping our fingers crossed for a model not unlike the former WRX STI S209, we're also prepared for Subaru to give us a WRX fitted with the BRZ tS treatment.

I see this as an absolute win regardless of whether we get more power or just a retweaking of the suspension and a cool wing.
May not be the sti we all wanted, but will definetly be the fastest 2024 wrx. I wonder what the price will be.
They should have had this in Maryland as both Pastrana and Lasek are from the Old Line state.
That being said, I always felt that TR Subarus were more stripped down with fewer features that in turn made them more driver focused and also left items that often get aftermarket upgrades primed to be swapped out. Sorta like the MR Evo's.
The new WRX and Civic Si are the only two candidates for a newer car that I would like to buy and this is a bit intriguing. I'd love for a cheaper, even more stripped down version of the base model. I wouldn't even mind if it just had basic upgrades, but call me crazy, but I'd be bummed out if this enthusiast version had eyesight on the manuals. That's an automatic (no pun intended) no go for me.
The GR Corolla right now is the only car I'd trade the turbo BRZ for, but I guess I could be interested here.
I suspect it will the be the wheels/brakes/light aero treatment.
I had my heart set on buying a next-gen WRX STi until it was canceled.
Just picked up a base model, I'd be happy if Subaru offered the brembos as an accessory. Order some color matched cladding next and I'll send it :)
