For a hot minute, we had Solaras in SCCA GT2 racing with one taking the national title in 2009.

In a Trans Am grid of Mustangs and Camaros, why not stand out with something like a Toyota Camry?
Thanks to TRD USA, you can now do just that.
Developed for the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series, the new Camry body will make its debut this weekend at the Mission Foods Road Atlanta SpeedTour, where two Toyotas are set to compete: the No. 10 Nitro Motorsports Camry, driven by Tyler Gonzalez, and the No. 90 Nitro Motorsports Camry, piloted by Thomas Annunziata.
The new body is the result of several months of development between TRD and Five Star RaceCar Bodies, the official body manufacturer for the TA2 Series.
“We are thrilled to be able to officially unveil the Toyota Camry body for the TA2 Series,” said Jack Irving, General Manager, TRD U.S.A.“This body is the result of the diligent effort of so many people at TRD, Trans Am and Five Star.”
Trans Am President Andy Lally also shared his excitement over the announcement: “We are elated to welcome the new Toyota Camry body to the paddock in the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series. The Trans Am Series prides itself as a proving ground for the future stars of stock car racing, and we’ve been fortunate to see many Toyota Development Drivers find success in Trans Am.”
The new Toyota Camry body is available to purchase from Five Star, with Toyota offering contingency opportunities
It's just a sticker package, bro...
Pulling up the body templates from 5* I can better see the differences between them, but it's pretty subtle. The side profile just screams generic pony car rather than generic family sedan. Maybe they should start with a generic CUV shape instead. Then ALL the manufacturers could be represented by their current offerings.

That's a really good question. I'm not too sure why they wouldn't use the Supra either.
Do we know what engine package the Toyota body cars are going to be allowed to run? I can't find that info in any of the TA materials.
In reply to JG Pasterjak :
I thought TA2 all ran an LS3 based engine, but according to their "Cube 3" page it says there are GM, Ford, and Mopar options... So that does certainly beg the question. They don't even make a V8 anymore, although apparently they're still able to supply their 5.0L V8 for the "Supercars" Supras. So maybe that engine? Not sure how that would work with the cost controlled aspect of the class though.

Is it because the Camry has a fresher face?
Isn't the Supra going away again? I'm guessing that's more the reason than anything. That and there's more "brand recognition" with the Camry, even though they don't make one that looks remotely close to this thing.
And I kinda wish they did, because a Toyota ponycar on par with the Mustang and Camaro would be interesting.
