Way cool. Cars with "pursuit packages" are some of my favorites.

Maybe the Dodge Charger that we featured earlier is still too mainstream for a cop car. How about going with a Chevy, such as this Camaro, which comes with a Police Pursuit package.
This Camaro comes with a “special” 5.7-liter V8 and six-speed manual. Add to that heavy-duty brakes, cooling, steering and suspension.
As you may imagine, this Camaro was not sold to the public. Instead, it was acquired through the GM Proving Grounds. It has just 3271 miles on it.
Find this 2001 Chevrolet Camaro B4C for auction at Mecum on January 16.
Didn't know you could ge a B4C in a manual. Very cool piece. Wonder what the " heavy duty brakes" are comprised of.

I think once the facelift hit all the fbodies received the same brakes. v6 to v8 cars. Maybe a different pad compound?
Cool. But the cars I've seen that were long term residents of the GM proving grounds led pretty hard lives. Though they were well maintained.

Came here to say the same thing. Unless this was a factory COPO or one-off, there were no street B4Cs that had a six speed from my understanding. I wonder if it was swapped.
I'm also wondering if it ever saw police service. I don't see holes for the radio mounts, the button panel, and it has a CD player.
Then again... I'm not a B4C expert.
Kinda neat. But also 4th-gen F-Bodies are total E36 M3boxes, even the nice ones. I'm always amazed at the prices that people pay for them. Bad styling, terrible ergonomics, interiors that fall apart at a stern glance, wretched to work on, flimsy unibodies, glass rear differentials, weak automatic transmissions, the aluminum-block 5.7L isn't that great (small bore size, can't be overbored much).

I have finally found someone else who doesn't drink the F-body kool aid. I always found them to be limp noodles. Weak rear axles, floppy unibody, terrible visibility. We used to have one at the shop that we used for a drag rat, and about every 10th launch we would shatter the windshield from body flex.
We got about thirty 500-hp launches out of the axle before it ejected the carrier bearing webs and left the diff on the track.
