Remember the Pirelli World Challenge? This Chevrolet Sonic remembers–because it was there, competing in B-Spec under the Tech Sport Racing banner.

[That time we raced in the Pirelli World Challenge series]

The Sonic has been in the care of the current owner since 2017 and currently comes upgraded with Sachs dampers, Borla exhaust, K&N air filter, fire-suppression system, Hawk DTC70 pads and more.

More recently, the Chevy has secured three podium finishes at the SCCA Runoffs since 2018, and it last competed in September of 2023.

Located in Livonia, Michigan, this 2012 Chevrolet Sonic is listed at $18,000.

B spec in a sonic is what I aspire to do.  The sonic is such a under rated giggle factory in autox and track sprints it has to be a hoot to club race one.  Once I get my autox car completely sorted I'm gonna buy one.  I unfortunately can't buy a b spec car right now because I'm a broken person and if I get two projects at once neither of them will get done.

Cool find, Colin.

We ran B Spec back when it was new, but we had a Ford Fiesta

I miss Riverside :(

Strangely, I haven't been to the mall that replaced it - ever.

Happy memories of Riverside; I went 130 mph down the back stretch on my 125cc GP bike.

As for B-spec I love the class.......I am pretty much doing that by racing a 1200 as the lap times are similar.

The Sonic was among my top picks for a car to take to college, but the Fit ended up winning out.

Still wouldn't mind one. They seem like a fun "warm" hatch that you don't see very often anymore.

At a press event one year, I believe it was before or after SEMA, we autocrossed some Sonics courtesy of Chevy that had been fitted with Chevrolet Performance parts.
