I like these Toyotas as much as the next guy, but for that money I can think of a few alternatives that are faster and handle better...OK, the gas mileage won't be as good, but who cares, right?

Finding a clean example of the AE86 Toyota Corolla is tough nowadays, but decent ones can still be found–and you don’t even have to import one from Japan.
Showing only a little over 52,328 miles since new, this 1986 Corolla GT-S Sport is billed as being highly original aside from an aftermarket exhaust and those 14-inch American Racing wheels.
A set of keys, a repair manual, an electrical wiring diagram book, spare parts, a vinyl nose cover and a full car cover are also included in the sale.
Located in Beaumont, Texas, this 1986 Toyota Corolla GT-S Sport can be yours for $35,999.

So clean, and low mileage, but $36k?!?!!! And it's not even a hatch. I suppose this explains why there are now AE86 kit cars.
I do love me some Hachi Roku...like willing to jeopardize my marriage love it.
But I feel like its probably possible to actually import one just as clean from its homeland for cheaper...
I worked at a Toyota dealership when these were brand new; they are fun to drive but for 36K you can get a used Cayman..............that's how the math works in my brain.
For the cognoscenti this is probably worth every penny.
A blue hair old lady in my neighborhood drives one that - other than needing a good polish - looks nearly new...
Garage kept, driven to church on Sunday. She shoos off anyone who approaches her about it. "Not for sale - leave me alone!"

It will be someday... =P
Kidding aside, sounds like the 79 year old woman I bought my MR2 from. Same 3E5 paint that's on this AE86 even. Would make a nice partner for the MR2, but I certainly don't have 36k sitting in the piggy bank.
Love these cars myself, but that's new ND money too.
