Have you given your cool car some love lately?

Good question, right? So, have we been loving on our cars? Well, let’s just say that our Garage Rescue Miata has been sitting a bit. How long? Two months, maybe?

Don’t worry, the car is okay. Blame things that have just kept the car indoors: poor weather, conflicting events and a few short weeks on the D.L.

But this past Monday, we had a good reason to take the car out: Orlando Roadsters’ first meet at its new location as Ace Cafe is no more. The group now meets at Speedzone Performance in Kissimmee, Florida.

Time for some quickie car prep.

  • Step 1: Disconnect the battery tender.
  • Step 2: Check the oil. All present.
  • Step 3: Check tire pressures. Mostly present although one was down about 10 psi.
  • Step 4: Turn the key and–it fired right up.

Our little 1.6 sang the entire way to the far side of Orlando as, surprisingly, we didn’t hit an ounce of rush hour traffic.

Once there, we did the usual: made photos, chatted with friends and checked out some cars. Then we drove home.

Since that was fun, let’s do it again, right? So on Tuesday evening we were back to Orlando to hang with Legends Orlando, another group displaced by the closure of Ace Cafe. These pre-1999 import meets now take place in Longwood on our side of Orlando.

Tuesday evening was basically a repeat, although this time we stopped for Waffle House on the way home.

That tire that was low has maintained pressure, so either it’s a really slow leak or someone got a little too ambitious while setting pressures.

In rough numbers, in those two days we put four hours on the Miata. All fun, all good.

Next event on the car’s schedule: two-day SCCA autocross on Daytona International Speedway’s kart track.

No. sad

The Bentley is collecting dust due to a leaking AC compressor I haven't had time to change.

The Mustang has been forced into DD duties by my middle son while he goes through the valve train in his Fiero.

The XJ needs to spend time on the lift finding a driveline vibration but I haven't had time to replace the concrete under the lift.

Too much to do and too little time.

Yup...

Hitting some shows that require a good long drive in order to arrive. Car seems to get better the more I drive it.

After a 53 week long headgasket(then it turned out to be head, then the replacement head was bad, then...) replacement I have my M3Ti back from the shop. It's 10 months out of inspection but I chanced it and drove it down to the dentist for a filling this morning.

OEM Audio+ setup goes into the BRZ a week from Monday.

Replaces the 1" and 4" speakers in the dash on both sides, 6.5" drivers in the doors, and puts a quad-coil 8" in the trunk. I think total system power is around 450 watts.

No. I need to get the Miata ready to sell and change the oil on the BRZ, but life keeps interfering.

Don't know why I waited until it was hot as heck, but finally did my brake/wheel/hub/axle swap the past couple of weekends.

Just received the final piece, a spacer for the brake booster made by SendCutSend.

Received 6 days from ordering, not bad.

You'll need to log in to post.
