My only complaint about this year's Challenge is that I didn't go Sunday. Looks like it was a great turnout for Cars & Caffeine.

The new format has opened our $2000 Challenge to all cars, including our Garage Rescue Miata. We showed it off on Sunday during Hagerty’s Cars & Caffeine.

First, the pre-show prep: quick detail, clay pad and then Griot’s Ceramic 3-in-1 Wax.

Basically, we followed Tim McNair’s one-hour detail. (You can easily do this at home.)
We did take a few minutes to (finally) clean away some dried shoe polish that’s been caked on the widow gasket for a few years: bamboo skewer plus some SD-20 cleaner. Easy.

Another easy clean-up trick learned from Tim: Use that same SD-20 on the tires and then leave them natural–no tire shine, no slick goo. And the tires are cool with it.
The two-hour drive to and from Gainesville was pretty much a non-event, although the top-down ride home was particularly delightful.

Dinner was a sammich in a supermarket parking lot. Again, easy, and very happy to have this one out and about.
