My dd. So post Katrina gas was almost $5 a gallon here and i was driving a durango every day. thinking i needed a beater, and knowing how bulletproof the track E30 had been, I bought this from a dirt farmer in Tennessee who’s son should NOT be a mechanic. Supposedly the trans was rebuild by this guy who works for a honda dealership up there. “Can this car make the trip from there to atalanta easily?” … “SURE”…. seemed to be ok on the test drive…. but the gas line spurted fuel all over the engine bay on the way home and it turned out the son forgot to put fluid in the transmission after changing the clutch…. add that to the fact that the AC condensor almost fell off and the amount of dirt extracted from the interior and I clearly should NOT have listened to him. I am going to chalk it up the the SPEC E30 tax and a limited number of cars available at the time… Since then I replaced a head gasket (and timing belt water pump stuff while in there), did a lot of rubber bit replacement in the engine bay. Did a LOT of cleaning to the interior, Recovered the seats, had the guage cluster rebuilt, and had the car resprayed. Its a pretty good car and has covered a LOT of miles since then.
