A Cheyenne, Ol' Whitey was given to me about 1990, it was roughly 17 y/o. No engine, dead trans, no wheels and tires, but a title! Upon closer inspection it proved to have been Frankensteined long before my stewardship began. The bed was a 75, The cab had been resurrected out of two, as evidenced by a weld across the floor from door to door and the rot in the A pillars where they were spliced. Front half of the cab was orange. One fender matched the back half of the cab, other fender from Taiwan(found the sticker). No bent sheet metal but plenty dented, all well used. The usual folded hood(w/ angle iron anti-fold struts welded in.) was in attendance as well. Astoundingly the frame and cab serial number matched. Mis-matched doors, right was pre 75, left pre 1980. All covered in a cheaper than Earl Schieb fleet white coating(calling that a paint job would be very generous). I added a Mexican blanket seat cover, a cast off 305, salvage TH350 and 1972 Impala steelies(4 used radials) w/10 series poverty caps. We have been family ever since. Prolly 3 motors and 2 transmissions(mostly used except the latest TH350) over the decades. He has been loaned out to everyone, always came home and probably always will.
