This car looked soooo good at the Solo Nationals. My favorite NC chassis car yet.
My “daily driver” for 8 years, the MX-5 NC is finally a trailer queen! It now has a PartsGroup-sourced, Jesse Prather Motorsports-built 2013 MZR 2.0L motor; Moto-East aluminum intake and 3” CAI and 1.5 cams, running E85 with ECUTek RaceROM tuning, EGR removed, Peterson oil catch can/breather, and cat-less custom Vorshlag Motorsports 2.5” exhaust; and KoyoRad 36mm aluminum radiator and Mishimoto oil cooler. Wheels are 18x10.5” and 18x11” Enkei RS05RR wheels with 295/30 and 315/20 Yokohama A052 tires (18x10” and 18x10.5” RPF1s with 285/30 and 295/30 Yokohama AD08R rain setup), under DG fender flares; AST 5220 RX-8 coilovers with w/Hyperco springs, Hotchkis RX-8 front and rear swaybars, PowerFlex PU bushings, and Mazdaspeed LSD. Racing Brake 13.1” front BBK and RX-8 rear brakes, Hawk HP+ brake pads, Goodridge SS brake lines, and AWR brake ducts. Mazda OEM removable hard top, Sparco Pro2000 II LF seats, harnesses, and 383 steering wheel.

A butch Miata? Both hellaflush and hellafunctional? A perplexing paradox.
New paint scheme on my lighter, simpler MX-5. New decals coming...
Hey Chris, I haven't seen the car in a while. The new splitter and rear spoiler fabrication looks first class. They are bound to stick the thing down better. Is the trunk still usable, do the end supports of the spoiler lock it closed? Have fun! Greg
Thanks, Greg! The rear spoiler is removeable, and still opens even when installed. The very end pieces are not fastened to the spoiler itselt, but hold it in place on the ends AND keep air from going under it (avoiding the "wing" protest). It is more "stuck" to the surface, especially above 40 mph.
Hey Chris. Sweet car! I'm looking at running 275/35 A6s (17s rather than 18s, though) on my NC this season. What modifications did you have to make to the car so the 275/35s and 285/30s would fit? I've run 245/40 A6s the past couple of years without rubbing issues with only rolled fenders.
Depends on your wheel width. I'm running 18x10's and with 285/30s, I had to really roll & pull the fenders...those with 9 or 9.5" wheels don't have to go that far. I also trimmed the plastic fender liners in front (actually, the car did it on its own, so I replaced them and trimmed them more cleanly).
