Subaru 1988 GL Wagon

12

This GL Wagon has about 170,000 miles on the clock and has never failed me. It’s stripped of everything I don’t need (rear seats, carpet) and loaded with everything I do (full-size spares, tools). It’s been resprayed matte black and the lower half is actually rattle can bedliner, although you can’t tell in the photo. It’s been lifted about 2” and we added the extra lighting in the front. Since this photo was taken, the classic Subaru diving board bumper was replaced with a pretty menacing push bar. Like the other one, this car scares the hell out of passing motorists but gets plenty of admiration from more serious offroaders.

I had one of those in high school and wouldnt you know it that a whole case of beer could fit in the compartment under the back floor by the tailgate. You could fit several bottles of booze in the wheel wells by going through the plastic panels in the back, too. You dont have the turbo version do you? Your car looks bad ass! Thats back in the four wheel drive days of subaru! Does yours have the hill stop feature?

@RossD: (I'm nortolano) To answer your question, the black one is NA but the tan one is the turbo. No official hill stop feature, but if the conditions are right, you can usually find a tree to lean against. ;)
