Good article covering the basics.

I couldn't help but notice how times have changed and peoples thoughts of what it takes to tow have changed.   Could you imagine what would happen today if someone proposed towing a Porsche+spares in a ~20' enclosed trailer with a 1990 (at best) S10 Blazer/Jimmy.   Let alone what GRM would hear if they showed such a rig as am example of "towing it right".   I personally wouldn't have an issue with it.  It would tow slow and you could easily be safe.   But now and days that same load is one many a forum member have said taxes their modern 1/2 ton like a Tundra with ~2500lbs more towing capacity and literally 2.5X the HP.

In reply to nocones :

Seems like these days people expect to be able to tow as if their vehicle was unloaded, anything else is flat out unacceptable.

Well, that 1990 Porsche is probably a thousand pounds lighter than a 2020 one, so that's part of it... :)
