Normally, it’s the Chevrolet engine that is swapped into the Toyota product, but appropriately named forum user malibuguy is flipping that equation by swapping a Toyota 1UZFE V8 engine into a 1982 Chevrolet Malibu.
You might be asking yourself why someone would do this, and the most appropriate response may be that sometimes you don’t really need a good reason other than “Why not?"
The project may have started back in 2017, but so far malibuguy has the Toyota V8 in place and is working to get the Malibu running and driving. Future plans include eventually replacing the automatic with a six-speed manual via a Nissan CD009 (the same one found in the 350Z) and a full repaint of the car.
To ensure that you don't miss any future updates for this unusual Toyota-powered Malibu, be sure to head over to the Builds and Project Cars Forum.
